My Journey
I’m a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and I feel deeply honored to walk alongside families as they welcome new life into the world. My path to midwifery has been shaped by both professional experience and my own personal journey through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.
I began my career as a nurse after earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa, and I spent seven years caring for others in a clinical setting. After stepping away to stay home with my children, I found myself drawn back to birth work in a new and more personal way. My own experiences with home birth and out-of-hospital midwifery care inspired me to support other families seeking that same kind of intentional, empowered experience.
In March 2021, I became a doula and shortly after began working as a birth assistant with a home birth midwife. I went on to complete a traditional apprenticeship from November 2021 through December 2023, where I gained hands-on experience and deepened my understanding of physiological birth and holistic care. I sat for my NARM certification exam in March 2024 and became a Certified Professional Midwife in April 2024. I was proud to become licensed in Iowa in July 2024, when licensure first became available in our state.
As a mother of three—Cora, Calvin, and Charlie—I bring not only clinical knowledge but also lived experience into my work. I understand the vulnerability, strength, and transformation that birth holds. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported every step of the way.
When I’m not attending births or meeting with families, you can often find me at home with my kids, usually with a sewing project in hand. I find joy in creating things with care—something that beautifully mirrors the heart of midwifery itself.
During my births I felt heard, supported and empowered and now I aspire to do that for you!
